Each guess names an animal and adds it to a phylogenetic tree that shows how closely it is related to the mystery species, narrowing the answer by shared taxonomic rank from phylum down to genus. Twenty guesses are allowed per day, and a companion game, Metaflora, applies the same idea to plants.
